[Not TiVoSafe] Colin McRae returns to competition in Wales Rally GB
The return of former champion and video game icon Colin McRae to the WRC after an 18 month "retirement" is
off to a cautious start. In the first
day of competition of the Wales Rally GB, McRae, paired with his old co-driver, Wales' own Nicky Grist, struggled to
find the handle on his Skoda in the slippery conditions.
Having practiced only in dry conditions, McRae held back in the early wet and muddy stages, but showed flashes of his
former speed in the drier third stage.
The return of McRae and Grist has been a huge boost to the event, with ticket sales
up 20 percent over last year. A strong
performance this weekend could see McRae enter a longer-term relationship with Skoda.
