NHTSA investigates leaking Nissan Murano fuel tanks

The U.S. government has opened an investigation into problems with the fuel tank in Nissan Murano SUVs. Apparently, the NHTSA has received four complaints of the tank being punctured during normal driving, leading to fuel leaks and requiring the tank to be replaced.

The investigation covers about 124,000 Muranos from the 2004 and 2005 model years, and follows the August recall of 2003-2005 Muranos for alternator problems.
