Ford fires some more

Last Thursday, Ford announced that it pink-slipped more people as the company's economic woes start to catch up with its work force. This time, a Ford spokesperson said the employees that were let go weren't just sales and marketing — engineers and other white collar workers got cut as well. After the 1,100 voluntary buyouts and early retirement packages were doled out, the company cut 10 percent of its contract employees and has indicated its plans to cut 5 more percent of its work force by last Saturday. Many workers have also left voluntarily, making the need for less layoffs.
