Diesel makes an EPA top ten list.

In a report released by the Department of Energy and the Environmental Protection Agency, four diesel vehicles make the top ten list of most fuel-efficient cars. The TDI versions of the Volkswagen New Beetle, Golf and Jetta, both manual and automatic transmission, somehow make up four vehicles (read the press release… confusing, isn't it?). Diesels make 20 to 40 percent better fuel efficiency, and assuming diesels continue to become cleaner and quieter as automakers perfect the technology, consumers may get over the stigma associated with diesel and make the switch.
