PHR's Engine Masters contest crowns another winner
I've casually followed Popular Hot Rodding's Engine Masters contest over the past several years, admiring the apparently simplicity of the task - build an engine that makes the most average power and torque over a given rev range (2,500 to 6,500 in this case), using a particular engine formula (big-blocks of no more than 509 CID for this year's showdown). The husband-and-wife team of Lennart and Birgitta Bergqvist took home the crown this year, keeping Bowtie fans happy with a stout effort by the team's big-block Chevy. An average of 676 lb-ft of torque and 589 HP over the contest's 4000 RPM range is impressive, indeed, as a lot of folks would be happy with peak numbers as large as those.
