Coming out… of the garage
Recently one of our readers pointed out to us that Sean Bugg, a fellow automotive journalist for
Metro Weekly, a Washington D.C. Gay and
Lesbian magazine, wrote a response to our post back in June
about GayWheels.com.
It's an interesting article in which Bugg tries to answer the question – "Is there such a thing as a gay car?" Though
he never states it explicitly, we think he basically makes the point that while some cars are more masculine or
feminine than others, most are bi-appealing. An obvious example is the Jeep Wrangler, a 4X4 whose pedigree has earned
it a rough rider' respect in the straight community and whose appearance on the show Queer as Folk also earned
it the adoration of the gay community. In the end, we're sure that Jeep doesn't really care who is buying the Wrangler,
just as long as somebody loves it.
