Target Chip Ganassi Racing switches to Honda
Target Chip Ganassi Racing formally announced Monday what most of us had expected - they will run Honda engines for
the 2006 season. While Toyota has yet to officially announce its immediate withdrawal from IndyCar racing ahead of its
original 2007 target, the Ganassi Racing team was the only major team remaining that had not switched to Honda.
Not only is Target-Ganassi Racing switching to Honda power, but they have signed last year's Honda-powered IRL
champion and Indy 500 winner, Dan Wheldon, to drive alongside former champion Scott Dixon. Wheldon apparently left
Andretti-Green Racing when the offer to renew his contract didn't meet his expectations.
Target-Ganassi is downsizing from three cars to two for 2006, with Ryan Briscoe departing the team to look for
opportunities in the Champ Car World Series.
