Systems, a developer of hybrid and fuel cell digital power management systems, has entered into a joint venture with a
major North American truck manufacturer to build a commercially viable hybrid School Bus. The School Bus project will
use a post transmission-type hybrid drive system that has a maximum power output of 80kW (107 hp). The unnamed truck
manufacturer is stated to have annual sales of over 60,000 vehicles/year, which implies that the potential market for a
school bus that’s easier on gas and rolls around the neighborhood making less noise could be quite large. Enova
provided no other details in its release, so we’ll be eager to see the first prototype of this hybrid human
transporter in action.
