I'd never been to a Concours d'Elegance prior to Saturday. If the Greenwich Concours is the only one I'm ever able to go to for the remainder of my days, I will consider myself to be very fortunate. It's that kind of experience. Saturday's focus was American cars, and every era of motoring was represented. From gorgeous Brass Era machinery right up to the latest and greatest from the present day, walking through the concours was like stepping into a time warp where you popped into a different decade every few hundred feet.

Packards and Duesenbergs sat next to Cadillacs from a time when Caddy was the Standard of the World. Walk a minute and you'd stumble onto a brace of '70s muscle machines. An AMX next to a Yenko Deuce. A Mach 1 next to a Charger R/T, with an orange Superbird's wing visible a few cars over. The list is endless. From a pair of Packard concept cars to a pristine '88 IROC-Z (no, I'm not kidding), this was a celebration of the automobile unlike anything I'd seen before. Even the public parking lot outside the Concours was loaded with fun stuff..



And if one wanted to get a taste of Europe prior to day two of the Concours, the supercar display included an Enzo, and the Christie's tent welcomed visitors with Steve McQueen's 1963 Ferrari 250 GT Lusso and an unrestored 1938 Bugatti 57C Atalante coupe. The latter two are among the larger group that will be auctioned on the second day of the Concours.
