A6 climbs 154 feet up a ski jump

In 1986 Audi created an ad to show off the traction of a quattro-equipped 100 CS by climbing up a ski jump in Kaipola, Finland. This year Audi returns to the same ski jump, armed with a 2005 Audi A6 4.2 quattro and traverses the 154 foot jump at an angle of 37.5 degrees equivalent to a 80 percent gradient. The controversy will follow the new commercial because of a safety cable that was used. What appears to be a cable to pull the car up the jump is actually a roll-back safety device that catches the car at the top so it doesn't slide back down when it stops. Audi assures the car drove up the jump on its own power and was not pulled.
