Sarah Fisher returns to IRL
Once named IndyCar Racing's most popular driver, 25 year-old Sarah Fisher has been without a ride since 2004. That all changed Thursday when Dreyer and Reinbold Racing announced that Fisher will drive for the team in the Meijer 300 at Kentucky Speedway August 13.This will mark the first time that two women (Fisher and Danica Patrick) have competed in an IndyCar event since the 2002 Indy 500. Interestingly, both Fisher and Patrick have qualified on the pole at the Kentucky Speedway, and Fisher still holds the IndyCar qualifying record at the track.
Fisher hasn't been idle since losing her IRL ride, racing in the NASCAR Grand National Division's western regional series. The one-off deal with Dreyer and Reinbold may be extended if the Kentucky race goes well for Fisher.
