Scott Speed to drive U.S. entry in A1GP championship
It's official. A1 Team USA owner/CEO RIck Weidinger announced today that
Scott Speed has been chosen as the team's driver for the inaugural A1GP season, which opens at Great Britain's Brands
Hatch circuit September 25th.
A part of Red Bull's junior driver development program, Speed has locked up third place in this year's GP2 series, and
will be driving in Formula 1 next year, either as a test driver for Red Bull Racing, or as one of the two drivers in
Red Bull's newly-acquired "junior team."
A1 Grand Prix is organized around national teams, with as many as 25 countries
expected to be represented this year. The series runs in Formula 1's "off season," a clever strategy that should give
the series and its teams high visibility in international markets.
