Time Waster of the Day: Listening to Andy Rooney talk about cars
Seems you can't throw a stone in a newsroom without hitting somebody busily expounding on the ills of the domestic auto industry. Bona fide industry experts and armchair quarterbacks alike all seem to either have 'The Answer,' or at least just want to pile on so that they can offer an "I told you so."
The latest is 60 Minutes' irascible pundit, Andy Rooney, who claims that the Big 3 are apparently too preoccupied with conjuring up snappy names for their creations instead of working to build superior automobiles. And while he has a point about every automaker's obsession with naming schemes, he offers little revelation or genuine insight.
