Toyota joins Sirius' line-up
The major Japanese automaker is the latest non-GM brand to join the growing ranks of Sirius partners. GM banked early on XM and that seemed like the wise move at the time since the satellite radio company was doing far better than Sirius a few years back. But signing Howard Stern seems to be the straw that broke the camels back and has brought everyone charging. Actually Ford joined the Sirius bandwagon early on because it was the only way to go with XM taken by their archenemy. But Sirius also counts Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Nissan, MINI, BMW, Porsche, Volkswagen, Mazda, Mercedes-Benz, Lincoln-Mercury and Audi as clients that, like Toyota, carry Sirius products. Toyota will start offering Sirius in nine models in February 2005 including all three Scion models, Lexus LS 430, ES 330, LX 470 and the Toyota Carmy, Solara and Land Cruiser.
