Toyota prepping OnStar competitor

Toyota has unveiled its new G-Book Alpha service that reaches further into telematics to not only perform OnStar-like functions but also download audio, video and games. The G-Book Alpha system uses the touch-screen of their navigation system to give directions or talk to a live operator. Many of the emergency and navigation functions mimic the offerings of OnStar. Toyota will start outfitting Japanese-sold vehicles this month with the new system. They did not mention the system spreading to other markets, but it seems only natural.
