Trade-in glut makes for used car bargains

The latest burst in new car sales are swamping many dealers with used cars. The round of employee discount promotions by U.S. manufacturers spurred buyers to new vehicles and made it attractive to trade in early. The result is a glut of used cars in many markets. According the USA Today's report, the increase in supply is affecting prices of used cars, which may provide bargains to those shopping for a vehicle. We would say that the decrease in prices may depend on your location as well as the class of vehicle in question. In our areas, we're seeing an increase in prices for used economy cars such as the Honda Civic, Toyota Corolla, and Scion xB. Again, your mileage may vary. Informally, we've also noticed a marked increase in the number of trucks and SUVs for sale, both on dealer lots and private party listings.
