US exports to rise and shine
Thanks to a weak dollar, more US-built cars may soon be plying European roads— and beyond.
Ward's Automotive says GM is (still) hoping to
globalize Caddy, plans to build a Euro-spec Sky and Solstice, and may transfer some of Australia's Holden production
stateside. BMW's South Carolina plant may export a new multipurpose vehicle based on the X5 platform, while Subaru may
(there's that word again) send its upcoming Indiana-built SAAB CUV abroad. Ford is also considering
selling more American-made models in foreign climes. The US currently exports 400k cars a year.
