World Car of the Year announces finalists
The second annual World Car of the Year
award will go to one of three finalists, announced this week -- the BMW 3-series, the Mazda MX-5 and the Porsche Cayman
S. Twenty seven new vehicles from around the world were in the running, and after narrowing those down to just three,
KPMG, which oversees the counting of the ballots, will draw the winner at the New York Auto Show next week.
The World Green Car and the World Car Design of the Year wll also be announced, with the Citroën
C1 1.4 Hdi (diesel), Honda Civic Hybrid and Lexus RX440h/Toyota Harrier Hybrid making the Green Car list and
the 3-series, Citroën C4, and Europe's Honda Civic/Civic Hybrid up for design awards. The World
Performance Car will go to the Audi
RS4, the BMW M5 or the
Porsche Cayman S.
The Audi A6 won in 2005, the award's inaugural year.
