Yes, no, maybe - Chevy back to predicting 100K mark for HHR sales
At one point, not too long ago, Chevrolet marketing manager Jim Campbell revised the 100,000/year goal for the HHR down to 60,000 units. Well, the always optimistic Bob Lutz might get the last laugh on this one, as Chevy is supposedly planning a full run of 100,000 of the CUVs for the 2006 model year. If they all sell at the sticker price as the early arrivals have, it would validate GM's new pricing strategy, as well as provide Lutz with what some might consider a much-needed win. That's the good news. The bad news is that the vehicle doesn't seem to be taking many sales away from the import brands, with the plurality of buyers trading in Chevrolets. It also still trails the Chrysler PT Cruiser and Honda Element in monthly sales. Seeing as how the vehicle has only been on the market for a couple of months, it'd be best to wait awhile before reading too much into any of this.
