Zotob virus idles 13 Chrysler plants

Earlier this week 13 Chrysler plants went dark for up to 50 minutes when an attack by the malicious yet extremely effective Zotob virus created a digital epidemic among users of the Windows 2000 operating system. Some 50,000 auto workers were forced to stand around and wait while IT staff patched the computers that are integral to Chrysler's production process. Chrysler hasn't determined how many vehicles it lost as a result of the attack, but says it will regain them through overtime. Now that most things are back to normal the company is considering what it can do in the future to mitigate such attacks. Our friends over at TUAW might suggest just using Macs instead. I bet OSX's Automator program could handle assembly line production.
