Es ist gut etabliert, dass die 2008 Chevrolet Malibu wurde ein Führer für General Motors, leicht übertraf damit die Popularität der Out-Modell gehen. Interessant ist jedoch, JD Power and Associates ist die Berichterstattung, dass ein fairer Betrag von Einfuhr-Besitzer entscheiden sich für neue Malibu's auch. Fast ein Fünftel, 19,8 Prozent des gesamten Handels-Ins für das neue Auto waren die Einfuhren. Diese Zahl ist deutlich von 12,5 Prozent bei der letzten Generation Auto in 2007.
Malibu ist behauptet Eroberungen von den japanischen Marken zu einem 4,6 Prozent besser als im letzten Jahr. Die kombinierte Anteil des Handels-Ins aus wie Honda, Toyota, Nissan und war bis zu 9,7 Prozent im ersten Quartal des Jahres.
Insgesamt Power Rang der Malibu als Nummer 17 unter den Top-Selling-20-Modelle für das erste Quartal 2008, und die fünft-beste-Selling mittelständische herkömmlichen Limousine.
